Bacardi was founded in Santiago de Cuba in 1862. The Catano plant, across San Juan Bay from Old San Juan, opened in 1936 and is a very large rum distillery. It is a major part of the company's output of Bacardi rum and a visitor attraction. The coordinates are approximate for the plant and the founding year given is for the plant, not the company.
