Appleton sits in the Nassau Valley in the south-west of Jamaica and is usually dated to 1749, when the estate is first recorded in the hands of the Dickinson family. The Wray and Nephew company later controlled it, and Campari Group bought the business in 2012. It runs both pot and column stills and blends rums of differing weight, so its age statements rest on a wide palette rather than one house style. The estate grows its own cane and operates a visitor centre.
