Chalong Bay opened in 2012 on Phuket and was founded by a French couple who wanted to make a rum from fresh-pressed cane rather than molasses. The cane is grown on the island and on nearby plantations, the juice fermented and run through small copper pot stills. It makes white and aged rums, and the site has a bar and distillery tours. It is the best-known rum distillery in Thailand. The coordinates are placed at the town of Chalong.
