Gabriel Neisson began the family distillery at Le Carbet in 1931, and his son Claudy later gave it its present reputation among collectors. It remains independent, one of the few small family producers still working on the island. Neisson uses cane from its own plots and local growers, and was among the first to make a certified organic cane rhum. Releases with plot or farm names and low-yield single releases are well liked by enthusiasts.
