Saint James dates its origins to 1765 at Sainte-Marie on the Atlantic coast of Martinique. It is one of the island's largest producers and runs a rum museum on site. Its distinctive square bottle and the Imperial Blanc are widely distributed in France. The distillery uses Creole column stills and its range covers white, amber and aged rhums, as well as releases for export. The brand is now held by the La Martiniquaise-Bardinet group, according to my sources.
