Homere Clement, a doctor who became the first mayor of Le Francois, bought the estate in 1887 and began making rhum agricole there. The grounds, with the plantation house, gardens and aging cellars, are now a heritage site and museum open to visitors. Clement was among the producers covered by the Martinique AOC, and it ages rums in a large barrel hall, including vintage releases from the 1950s onward. The company now belongs to the Hayot family group, which also owns J.M.
