Koloa Rum Company holds Kauai's first license to distil, issued in April 2009, and makes its rums in Kalaheo on the south side of the island. It produces white, gold, dark, spiced and coconut expressions as well as ready-to-drink cocktails. The company uses cane sugar and Kauai water in copper pot stills. A larger distillery and visitor site in Koloa town has been planned and reported, but the Kalaheo site is where the pin is placed.
