Mount Gay claims 1703, the date of a deed for the Mount Gilboa estate in St Lucy, and calls itself the oldest running rum brand. The company blends rum from column and pot stills and ages it in ex-bourbon casks. Remy Cointreau bought it from Pernod Ricard in the 2010s. Its range has widened to include a pot-still bottling and cask-strength releases beyond the long-running Eclipse and Black Barrel.
