Riviere du Mat stands on the wet east coast of Reunion near Saint-Benoit and is one of the island's three long-running rum houses. Sources give its start as the 19th century, with 1886 cited most often. It sells white, amber and aged rum and has contributed to the Charrette blend agreed among Reunion's distillers in 1972. The owner given here is the label company named on bottles and could not be confirmed against a company source, so the ownership detail should be treated as tentative.
