Savanna is one of the island's historic houses, dated to 1870 and now run as part of Reunionnaise du Rhum. The distillery works beside the Bois Rouge sugar factory at Saint-Andre and makes both a cane juice rum and traditional molasses rum, including a heavily fruity Grand Arome style from long fermentation and a pot still. Its output has also been supplied into the shared Charrette blend that Reunion's distillers agreed in the 1970s. Founding date and exact site are given differently by different sources.
