Takamaka is made by the D'Offay family at a distillery at Trois Freres on the island of Mahe, in the Seychelles. The name comes from a bay on the island and from a tree shown on early labels. The company's first rum was released in the early 2000s, and the range covers white, golden and dark bottlings as well as spiced and coconut-flavoured rums. It is the principal rum distillery in the Seychelles, and a visitor centre is open at the site. Exact founding year is approximate.
