Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala (ILG) is the producer of Ron Zacapa and Ron Botran. Both start from virgin sugar cane honey, a syrup reduced from the first pressing of cane, rather than from molasses. Distillation takes place in the Guatemala City area, while maturation happens in warehouses at roughly 2,300 metres near Quetzaltenango, where the cool air slows ageing. The pin sits at the distillery location listed in reference sources, which is not firmly confirmed. Zacapa dates from 1976 and uses a solera-style blending system.
