Ogasawara Rum is distilled on Chichijima in the Ogasawara Islands, some 1,000 kilometres south of Tokyo, and is the only rum maker in this part of Japan. It was started in the 2000s, with cane from the islands and imported molasses used in the wash. The product is sold in small quantities as both unaged and aged rum, mainly in Japan and at the island's bars and shops. Exact founding year and the cane share are not confirmed.
